CELT — Certificate in English Language Teaching
The Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELT) is a 120-hour teacher training course awarded by the Advisory Council of English Language Schools (ACELS), the accreditation body appointed by the Irish Government Department of Education and Skills for the regulation of all English language schools in Ireland. ACELS is now part of QQI which controls the quality of educational qualifications in Ireland.
The CELT is the only T.E.F.L course in the Mid-West of Ireland which is accredited by ACELS which is the section of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) regulating English language schools. The CELT meets the international standard for English language teaching as it is a 120-hour teacher training course with 6 hours of teaching practice. The course is recognized by the British Council for employment purposes in their centres around the globe.
At Clare Language Centre we have taught the skills and methodology of English Language Teaching on our CELT Course to graduates from Ireland and from many other countries. People who have taken this qualification are now working all around the world including in Australia, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, Switzerland and the Middle East.
There will be two intensive courses in 2017 on the following dates:
- 22nd May to 19th June 2017
- 24th July to 28th August 2017
There will also be an evening course beginning in October 2017.
