Our junior programmes are individually designed to offer students a memorable learning experience with a range of exciting and creative activities. This encourages young people to learn English in a fun environment. We are proud of our 19 years of professional English tuition in the heart of Ireland’s magical landscape. Our students return to us year after year because of the success of our friendly homestay programme, small classes and customised activities.
Our school is located in Ennis, a small friendly town in the West of Ireland, a perfect environment for teenagers to learn, play and relax in a safe atmosphere. Just twenty minutes from Shannon airport and thirty minutes from the stunning Cliffs of Moher, our school is easily accessible and convenient for group and individual courses.
The Clare Language Centre is a modern, well-equipped school for teaching English as a foreign language. We are recognized by the Irish Government Department of Education. We are also a teacher training school and therefore always offer the highest quality of teaching standards.
We pride ourselves on the high quality of our academic programme which is based on an interactive approach to language learning. Our teachers are dedicated to modern methods of teaching. Our small class sizes ensure that each student has the opportunity to speak in class, so they will actively use the English that they have studied in their own school.
On the first day of class we give students a computerised placement test and interview them individually to find out which level is right for them. Students learn best when they feel comfortable. Our teachers understand that students need a variety of games and projects mixed with grammar and exercises to make learning both challenging and fun. At the end of the programme each student presents a project and is given a certificate showing their progress according to the Common European Framework.
There is a full day excursion every Saturday for all students based on different themes. We take our students to the beach, dolphin watching, surfing, boating on Loch Derg, shopping in Galway, trips to the famous Cliffs of Moher, visits to Blarney Castle and Cork and tours of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. We aim to give students an experience of hte real Ireland and a taste of Irish culture.
Every week there is a well-supervised disco which is the highlight of the week for many students giving them the chance to mix and have fun with students from other countries. In addition to the disco, students staying in the town have optional evening activities on three evenings per week.
Sunday is family day and this is a great opportunity for students to fully immerse themselves into Irish life.

Irish host families are famous for their warm welcome. For many years, students have been coming to Ireland every summer to improve their English. Many of our host mothers grew up in homes where there were international students staying every summer and now wish to carry on this tradition of hospitality and cultural exchange.
All our families have been interviewed and inspected before any student is sent to their house. Many of our host families have worked with our school for more than ten years. We always try to match the students with the correct family in terms of ages of children, hobbies and interests.
Unless the parents request it, students are never placed in a host family with children who speak the same first language. This ensures that students gain confidence through speaking English every day in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
We offer two distinct host family options for junior students:
County Clare has a long history of hospitality and traditional Irish culture. Ennis is a small, safe town where your child can have a real Irish experience!
In order to ensure that your child has a successful stay at Clare Language Centre we only take individual bookings through established study abroad agencies. This gives parents the chance to discuss every aspect of the programme in their own language. By booking through an intermediary located in their own country parents can be sure that they have a complete understanding of what we can offer to their child.
